Article about FriendCaller in the local newspaper

After C2Call in recent weeks by the financing round of $ 2 million from well-known US investors and the crossing of the 1 million user mark could generate worldwide buzz, now a local newspaper reported on our company.

C2Call CTO Michael Knecht was interviewed and was able to closely examine the company’s philosophy. Thus, one of the main objectives of FriendCaller, not technical-affine users to enter the Voice over IP technology easy as possible, although VoIP, in addition to very cheap fares, especially abroad, has many other advantages, the market until now is still very small.

The headline of the article

A quote from the article: “Whether, we in a few years all use this technology, Michael Knecht believes open: ‘This also depends on the network operators’.” The behaviour of the net operators is really a hot topic , but we hope to continue the VoIP freedom.
Especially our iPhone and Android Apps be acknowledged.
So many thanks to the Westfalenpost for this article, with which many people are reached, which have not yet heard of us.

No Chance for illegal apps – Google introduces Androids new “licensing service”

Thats how it works!

Google announced that there will be a licensing service for applications in the Android Market Place to shield that Apps can be copied and spread without charges.  That way Google reacts on the sustained criticism of many developers that it is to easy for users to exchange apps illegally.

In the future the licensing service will synchronize the data with the Google server to detect if users are legitimized to use the software. If the opposite is true the app will withdraw the service.

We at FriendCaller have long lobbied for VoIP over 3G and Apple Inc. finally made it possible. No doupt that this required some arm twisting since the operators have been notoriously stubborn to give their customer anything for free but instead likes to tie them with a million or so additional chargable options.

So, for a long time Skype was with us and other iPhone developers lobbying for VoIP freedom. Therefore, this announcement comes at a surprise and is a seriuos set-back for VoIP freedom, considering the size and market position of Skype.

Apple Inc. opened up for 3G VoIP a couple of months back, and the feature was well received with iPhone app developers and many end users.

FriendCaller facilitates free VoIP calls over WiFi and 3G and the FriendCaller apps allow as well to call out to phone and mobile phone numbers around the globe at prices far below the operators are charging.

Apple hits the One Million iPad count

One Million iPad sales“One million iPads in 28 days—that’s less than half of the 74 days it took to achieve this milestone with iPhone,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Demand continues to exceed supply and we’re working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more customers.”

iPad users have already downloaded over 12 million apps from the App store. Developers have created over 5,000 exciting new apps just for the iPad alone. The iPad also supports the 200,000 apps already available on App Store.

Due to the large screen, extreme graphics, and multi-touch interface, the price of the apps for iPad has been recorded to be higher than the price of the same apps on iPhone or iPod Touch, but still many developers try to keep a strong customer relationship and welcomes new iPad customers, by keeping their app prices reasonable or same as that available on iPhone or iPod Touch.

FriendCaller has proved itself as a strong step towards mobile VoIP freedom, and its VoIP app for iPad remains free of cost to download from the App Store, enabling iPad users to make free calls over the FriendCaller network and cheap long distance calls abroad.
