Smartphone Cameras Result – A Comparison (iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, Galaxy SIII)

Smartphone cameras are improving day by day and its not uncommon for a top-notch Smartphone to match or even meet the quality of a small pocket digital camera.

As this innovation in camera quality has corresponded with a higher trend in the past, in the same way FriendCaller Video Calling app for Android and iPhone has undergone constant improvements too in order too catch up with these camera’s quality in-fashion. (The reason, why FriendCaller Video Calling app has accelerated to 10 Million users now!)

Now, two of the most in-demand Smartphones in the market are Apple’s iPhone 5 and Samsung’s Galaxy SIII where FriendCaller Video Calling app is enjoying great fame. Both of these bear an 8 mega pixel camera and promise ultra-speedy shutter swiftness. It would be interesting to have a camera comparison of these two. For good measures, we have also reviewed the 8-megapixel camera from Apple’s iPhone 4S, to see how the newer phones compare with the older model.

An Empire State of Mind

iPhone4s iPhone5 Galaxy SIII

All three did a great job at capturing the building in front of a blue sky and puffy clouds.

The Bus In Motion

Bus iPhone4s iPhone5 Galaxy SIII

The iPhone tends to have faster auto-focus as compared to the Galaxy SIII, which is visible in this shot of a bus in motion.
The iPhone 5 just edges out the iPhone 4S in terms of clarity.

Up Close and Personal With Rocks

Rocks iPhone4s iPhone5 Galaxy SIII

All three cameras did a great job of macro in sunlight, but  the edge will be given to  Galaxy SIII here. The iPhone 5 might be more accurate in terms of colors, but the shadows and contrast look better on the Galaxy SIII.

lowlight iPhone4s iPhone5 Galaxy SIII

The iPhone 5 has arguably the best low-light performance of the bunch, with the widest visible and most natural color light.
Nevertheless, the Galaxy SIII comes out as the most noise-free.

Blowing Bubbles in the Park

Bubble iPhone4s iPhone5 Galaxy SIII

The iPhone 5′s camera captures extremely vivid colors. You can see the entire spectrum inside the bubbles much more than with the Galaxy SIII or the iPhone 4S.

Final Thoughts:

Regarding off-the-camera results, we’d have to give the edge to the iPhone 5. Still, the Galaxy S III was a joy to use and its large screen functions as a fantastic viewfinder.

The Galaxy S III and the iPhone 5 are both big improvements over the iPhone 4S, not so much for picture quality, but for speed. It’s surprising how much a faster camera can improve the smartphone photography experience. The 4S is significantly slower than the Galaxy SIII or the iPhone 5. That doesn’t matter so much for posed shots or landscapes, but it can mean the difference between catching that fleeting moment or just missing it.

Looking through the photos, what camera do you prefer? Let us know in the comments.
