In case anyone doesn’t know how to make a Group Video Call on iPhone, iPad or iPod touch via FriendCaller, we have made this short tutorial for you. Just follow through these simple steps. Its definitely quite an easy one
To make a Group Video Call, first of all you need to make a ‘Group’.
Open ‘Friends’ from the FriendCaller menu. On the far right corner of the window you will find a ‘+‘ icon. Tap the icon.
A new screen will show you a few options to select from. Tap on ‘New FriendCaller Group’.
Clicking it will lead you to your contacts. Tap the circle located at left to select your Group members. After selecting members tap the ‘Arrow’ at the far right top corner of your screen.
Name the group you created and hit the arrow again.
All group members whom you added will be notified that a new group has been created.
A few seconds later, you will see the newly created Group visible in your contacts menu.
Upon tapping the group, a window will slide from below with three options: Video Call, Audio Call and Text / SMS. By clicking the Green arrow right in front of your group will lead you to the details of your Group members, their online/offline statuses and the same three options. Hit the Video Call icon below the group name to start a Group Video Call with all group participants.
Your screen will show that a Video call is being made to your Group.
As soon as the call connects, you will hear a Voice saying ; “The other members have been notified to join the Group Call. Please Wait”
The Group participants will receive a message informing them that a Group Video Call had been started.
When the other participants joins in, their video in real time can be seen.
Once you are done having Group Conferencing with your friends, tap on the screen to bring up options and press ‘Hang Up’ to terminate your participation. Please note that other group members active in the conference can continue the call. And once the last member of the video call hangs up, the entire Group Call will be terminated and all members will be notified accordingly.
Not only you can make Video Call to a particular group, but following the above steps, you can also make voice conference calls or send one message to all participants within a group. Just select the appropriate action buttons.
When Wi-Fi connectivity is not around, For using VoIP apps on your mobiles and Smartphones, you gotta use devices with 3G and 4G competence. The effectiveness of your 3G and 4G wireless signal depends on your carrier service provider and the position of your device; whether you are moving in a vehicle or stationary. Since, each carrier opts for a specific bandwidth, your pick of the carrier determines how well the app will connect on your mobile.
When it comes to Voice over Internet Protocols (VoIPs) many applications go down the drain because they don’t support 3G. Remember we discussed how developers like us are in need for speed? Providing comfort to users, FriendCaller brings 3G and 4Gcompatibility.
Now the big question! What exactly does 3G and 4G mean, and are these two different in any way from each other?
To start with, we know that most smartphones today run on 3G network for their voice and data access. 3G speeds can reach up to 3 Megabits per second (Mbps), with average speeds tending to be closer to 1Mbps or lower. This access makes FriendCallerworks on 3G as good as on a fairly classed Wi-Fi.
Long Term Evolution (LTE) is what most are calling 4G but in reality it is just an advanced 3G standard that some call 3.9G. Seriously, they just rounded it off to call it 4G. This network’s average speeds are considered to be in the 100Mbps to 1Gbps range, roughly 10 to 100 times (reliant on location) faster than 3G networks, but theoretically only. If you consider it at an actual speed comparison with 3G, 4G is just 4 times faster in ideal scenarios. At that speed, a 4-minute MP3 download would take you mere seconds. In addition to this, since 4G require a low latency data transmission, unlike 3G, this means it’s packet switching provides Voice-over LTE functionality to imagine Group Video Callingon 4G to be fantastic too.
As the new iPad on Verizon Wireless network supports 4G LTE, How about using FriendCaller Group Video Calling for Cross-platform members on iPad? A 4G Video Chat experience sounds exotic, and with new Android 4G LTE powered handsets, we are constantly seeing amazing Technology mashup, as predicted at Showstoppers, in Barcelona.
