Apple has been collecting iPhone-user locations secretly for 3 years

Apple uses the location services to improve their ads!

Apple agrees that they have collected their users locations since 2008.  It is admittedly possible to disable the location services, but after changing the configurations no application can use the service anymore. The collected data shell be used for the advertising service iAd to tailor ads to single users. More precisely to show the users ads containing shops nearby. This hits all Apple products with location service, even Mac-Computers.

Whether this way of doing  is legal will be decided in court.

American product testing company attacks Apple

Consumer Reports

The most important American testing company.

The American consumer magazine “consumer reports” denied giving the iPhone4 a recommendation to buy, since the product testers traced the connection problems to a defect of construction, which means that it deals with a hardware and not as Apple declared a software problem. Moreover the magazine recommended their readers to buy the old iPhone3G S instead of the new version, the iPhone4.

This critic will surely bring sorrow to Apple, since the magazines judgment has great influence on the Americans purchasing behavior. Furthermore “consumer reports” gave the sarcastic advise to bond the regarding part of the iPhone4 with isolating tape, because this could solve the problem.

If you are affected by the problem, keep in mind that you still have chance to use FriendCaller!

Aside from that it is the first time that an Apple iPhone does not get a recommendation to buy from the reputable magazine.

Apple comps protective covers

Steve Jobs holds the iPhone in the "right" hand!

At first the connection problems with the iPhone 4 were the users fault. Then it was a software problem and now Apple comps protective covers, which indicates a hardware problem.

Owners of an iPhone 4 have been complaining about connection difficulties for weeks. The problems appear if left-handed users cover a particular point of the smart phone with their fingers. Steve Jobs commentary on this subject is meanwhile deemed to be legendary, since he just gave the advice to hold the phone in the other hand.

After this, Apple acknowledged their fault and announced that they will develop a software update, which patches the problem.

But now Apple virtually acknowledged a hardware fault according to the Internet site Appleinsider. A New Yorker Enterprise contacted Apple with a video showing the connection problems and as a result Apple gave them protective covers as a present. This protective cover prevents the option of touching this particular point. This falsifies Apples statement that it just deals with a software problem here.

But do not worry! If you are left-handed and you still want to call you friends you can use FriendCaller to do so, because we are not just offering the iPhone App.

Moreover we supply the Webphone!

Google wants to enter a new market

Google wants to simplify buying online flight tickets!

Google wants to buy an enterprise called ITA Software, which offers the possibility to search for flights, prices and free seats. The firm also provides Microsoft’s search engine Bing.  Whether the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) proceeds against this purchase is not known right now. The purchase price of ITA amounts approximately 700 million U.S. dollars.

Google declared that they are looking forward to the collaboration, that they will respect all existing contracts and that they do not have the intention to start selling flight tickets. If the deal is clinched they want to develop new tools to search for flights. These tools shell simplify to compare prices and to buy the tickets.

However Media experts expect that the FCC will definitely intervene, since ITA provides global players like Microsoft, Kayak, Orbitz or Expedia with their flight data.

Interesting for people, who fly often is also the possibility to call for free over the Internet. The VoIP-Supplier FriendCaller offers this for the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad or Android. By the way, the software can also be used in a browser without downloading a client.

Apple apologizes to his customers

Left-handers excluded from using iPhone4?

It may be true that the iPhone 4 is a best seller, but it is also true that it brings difficulties to the user. Just after the sales start many users complained about connection problems while using their phones left-handed.

Now Apple decided to take the problems serious, instead of just advising to use the iPhone with the other hand. That can nearly be regarded as an about-face of this situation.

By the way , Apple did not just suffer from looses of its public image. Moreover angry customers sued the concern.

Nonetheless , the problem can be solved next week with an update, since the reason for it is just a false calculation of the signals strength.

Maybe the iPhone can be obtained from all cellphone providers soon

Apple's partner on the U.S-market!

Is it almost over with iPhones exclusivity? U.S. reports indicate that Apple will soon be looking for more partners to sell its iPhone in the United States. The strategy change could also affect the distribution in other countries.

AT & T could fear losing their exclusive rights for Apple’s iPhone. According to the financial news agency Bloomberg , the end of AT & T’s near-monopoly-era might come soon. If this really happens it’s just possible that the distribution strategy all over the world could change.

In Germany, the newsmagazine Focus reports that at least 2 new cellphone providers will offer the iPhone in the foreseeable future. “There is every indication that the near-monopoly-era ends” confirmed a not mentioned by name Telekom competitor.

If Apple really allows more than one offeror , it will be possible that prices fall and that would be nearly in everyones interest.

Apple declares “Advertising-War” on Google

Apple's iAd

Apple changed its general business terms to allow independent third-parties to advertise on iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. This sounds a little bit unlikely, because Apple formerly banned third-parties services with reference to their users security.

Even so, a small passage illegalizes Google’s AdMob, which is one of the world’s largest mobile advertising platforms and claims to serve more than 7.1 billion mobile banner and text ads per month across mobile Web sites and handset applications.

In paragraph 3.3.9 Apple specifies that just advertising services , which core business is offering mobile advertising are licit. According to this, firms like Google, Yahoo or Microsoft are excluded. AdMob does not only see a suspect regulation of the market in this development. Moreover they regard this as bad news for all app-developers, since they do not have a free supplier choice anymore.

No matter how nice Apple’s plans to allow third parties to advertise look at first glance , there arises the question whether Apple just tries to give its new advertisement service iAd a cutting edge. IAd wants to start its service on the 1st of july, but till this happens the FTD will instigate investigations.
