A Small Round-Up & the Exciting Rich Media Messaging (Coming Soon)

FriendCaller has always been about a more rich mobile communication experience and we pioneered VoIP on the iPhone back in 2009 and have never stopped innovating since then. Our last addition to our All-In-One communication suite was Group Video Chat across iOS, Android devices, and all the popular desktop Internet browsers out there. Furthermore our mobile Group Video Chat is cutting edge; you can see all 4 Video call participants simultaneously on your mobile screen and 6 more can join the chat through a voice call.

We proudly call this ‘Real Cross-platform Mobile Group Video Calling’, because no one else delivers anything close to it. 8-)

Worth a mention, the video conferencing feature was very well received as you can see the download graph at left. Downloads are sky rocking! So, what’s next? More audio and video participants in a FriendCaller Group Call?

Sure, why not? In fact, we will demo this during the Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona with a group call of 7 video and 10 voice participants. Yes we can!

But there is still a huge wish list from our customers and developers, and we looked into several ones of which one do sticks out! Rich Media Messaging.

FriendCaller at the moment already offers so much more than just voice calls and SMS. So the addition of Rich Media Messaging will definitely make our Rich Communication suite complete. This said, you can expect some announcements next month, regarding Rich Media Messaging.

By the way what does Rich Media Messaging refers to? Well, instead of sending and receiving plain old texts (SMS) messages, you will now be able to record or send media from the phone gallery; like pictures, videos, animations, links, location information, calendar entries, etc. You can even record a greeting and send it as a voice message, instead of recording one on the old carrier provided answering machine.

For FriendCaller, we expect to roll out this exciting Rich Media Messaging feature for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch and definitely to over 1022 different Android phones and tablet models (which we already support). Not  to forget where we started out a few years ago: just a WebPhone in a desktop Internet browser.

By the way, while Michael was away on his lunch break, I took a peek into his developer phone and found that its not going to be long enough to see this exciting feature boarding our list of superb features.

Stay tuned!
